Miss Tobi Phillips has worn tiaras and convocation gowns at different stages of her life; she has also won numerous awards since she was crowned 'World Miss University Nigeria and World Miss University Africa 2012.

Today’s convocation and enchanting gown however is very special and different because it is a symbol that she has graduated from a four years course of Marine Sciences at 20 years of age and without an extra year even with all her engagements as a beauty Queen. She is now a proud Bsc holder in Marine Sciences from the prestigious University of Lagos.

"It's a nice achievement graduating without any extra year as a Departmental Queen, Campus Queen, plus Queen of all Nigeria undergraduates in 2012/2013 (World Miss University Nigeria Beauty Pageant Queen 2012) and it's recognition of all my hard work in school, and to share that with my mates is a very exciting one", she said. when asked further.

"As a beauty Queen generally, much is expected from you. As World Miss University Nigeria and Africa much more is expected from you unlike other regular national and university beauty pageantry because it means that every undergraduate in Africa looks up to you as a role model. Therefore your way of life, the steps you take and every decision you make has to make a positive impact on them. In addition you become a campus leader who will contribute to the development of institutions and play a strong advocacy role in reducing campus vices. We pay courtesy calls to different United Nations Organizations, visit diverse campuses as youth role models and deliver the message of Hand In Hand for Peace. We are furthermore exposed to diverse cultures; experience some of the nations and world conflicts and converse with leaders from different fields during our reign".

"Most importantly we plan and organize peace projects (pet project) and promote the awareness of Climate Change (Global Warming) while securing sponsorship through our office".

"World Miss University Nigeria is a platform for me to do lots of different things that I wouldn't have done otherwise, and it is an amazing experience.
I really like the ideology of the pageantry and I had lot of great experiences, but it was also greater to finish my degree without any distraction", she said.

Queen Tobi Phillips also explained that her pet project(Clean and Green Nigeria) is further geared towards educating students on how to convert waste-to-wealth as a result; create job employment opportunity for them in various times.

In her words "I've always been interested in environmental issue because the environment in which people, animals and plants develop and exist in, now has a variety of problems that affect our entire world. Some of these problems are: the pollution of air, water and soil, destruction of the ecosystem and tropical rain forests, warming up of the earth’s surface called ‘global warming' and breaking up of the ozone layer.
It is time for me to contribute my quota and help improve the environment we live in", she said.

According to the president, Temidayo L. Kafaru, This is the kind of Queen we raise and represent. She is indeed a role model to all undergraduates in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. From the WORLD MISS UNIVERSITY NIGERIA FAMILY, we say a very big CONGRATULATION to our Queen Tobi Phillips on her graduation. This is just the beginning of more good things to come. ...World Miss University Nigeria 2013 coming soon
