Delivering the second convocation lecture of the Fountain University, Osogbo, the CBN governor observed that the degeneration in education had nothing to do with world view of Islam, contending that Islam, by its nature and influence, "is a religion that promotes the culture of education."
In the lecture, entitled: "Islam and the Culture of Education," Sanusi said recent development among countries and societies in Muslim world were showing positive signs of improvement in human development.
He observed that six out of 10 countries of the world that registered the fastest progress in Human Development Index (HDI) were Muslim majority countries.
He listed the country as Oman, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, with Oman being the fastest.
Highlights of the occasion included the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees on three distinguished Nigerians, including the wife of Vice President Namadi Sambo, Amina, who bagged honorary doctorate degree in Public Administration.
