There is scarcity of aviation fuel, also known as Jet –A1 in Lagos Airport since Monday, and the situation is affecting flight operations at various airports in the country, resulting in delays and outright flight cancellations by helpless airlines. As a result, airline operators are forced to cancel or merge their flight. Sources say aviation fuel price which fixed between N160 and N180 per litre did not increase, but the product is suddenly not available.

It was revealed that most airlines are experiencing difficulty purchasing the product at the Lagos airport. Aero Contrators, was said to have flown to Kaduna Airport on Monday just to get fuel and later return to Lagos to airlift passengers to their destinations.

The ugly incident led to anxious passengers who appeared stranded hanging at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA2) and the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), making frantic efforts to secure flights to their various destinations. It was gathered that some of the aircrafts that left Lagos for other airports could not return due to scarcity of aviation fuel.
