Because their chidren choose to and the parents feel that they're more important things to learn like education for a good job in future or discpline, isn't it obvious

Most Nigeian parents do not always like their children to speak their language just because they believe life has changed and most of the chldren around us do not always speak their parent's native language and there are some situations whereby at school, there might be a competition on certain languages but due to the child's inability to speak the language, he/or she will lose out.
