1. Acts 1:8 " and you will receive power when the holy spirit arrives has come you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts of the earth." ( Note that the reason why holy spirit was to be given is for the preaching work ONLY and not to perform miraculous work or prophecy)

2. Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name? And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness". ( "doing the will of my father". God's will is that all humans should be saved and come to know him well_ 1 Timothy 2:4)

3. Matthew 7:15 "Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves"

4. 1 Corinthians 13:8 "Love never fails. But whether there are [gifts of] prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with". ( wonder where some people get this gift after its been done away with?)
