It is not all bad news to Nigerians as a 19-year-old Nigerian, Miss Aisha Eniola, has won an election into the Brent Council in London, United Kingdom. Aisha, a final year student of Mass Communication in one of the London universities, is the daughter of former Welsh Harp Councillor, Francis Eniola and represents Harlesden Ward. She is the great granddaughter of the late Ohinoyi of Oboroke-Ihima, Chief Audu Ojunu. In the election, Aisha’s brilliance and oratorial prowess during the debates which preceded the election warmed her into the hearts of residents of the ward. Aisha, the Labour candidate, had polled 2, 160 votes to be elected. She defeated Simon Erskine, of the Green Party, who garnered 459 votes and Paul Fowler, of the Liberal Democrat, who polled 313. Labour has continually held on to Harlesden, which remains one of their strongest wards in the Borough. Aisha is currently the youngest councillor in brent council and stated that she hoped to inspire youths to participate in politics.

A 19-year old Nigerian teenager, Aisha Eniola who resides in the United Kingdom has emerged the youngest councillor in UK. Taking after her father who was once a councillor, Eniola who represents the Harlesden Ward, won the residents of the ward over with her intelligence which showed through during the pre-election debates.
She had the highest overall votes of 2,160 beating her other counterparts who had 459 and 313, to emerge the youngest councillor in UK. The final year student of Mass Communication says she hopes her victory will encourage other young people to participate in politics.
