Senator Aisha Al-Hassan has made history as Nigeria’s first female governorship aspirant. She is running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Taraba State, Gistmania reports. Al-Hassan, who defeated former Governor Jolly Nyame in the Senatorial election of 2011, won the APC governorship primaries with a landslide. She scored 2,425 votes to beat Ibrahim Tumba, Julde Suleiman and Yusufu Akirinkwe who polled 18, 5, and 14 votes respectively. In a recent interview with Us, she stated that only an aggressive grassroots development approach would fast track progress in lifting the lives of the majority of residents of the state. “The majority of our people live in the rural areas. Therefore, the concentration of projects and programmes of our government should be at the grassroots,” she said.

@chivicol, Etiaba was 1st female governor, she was never a governorship aspirant. She was put in office when Peter Obi was impeached in 2006 but handed back to governor Obi when court nullified d impeachment. U are the one dat needs to go back to ur history book. The poster is right!!
