The peaceful protest which started at the Niger Delta University has taken a violent turn. The protest started after 200 Level final year Engineering students were asked to repeat 200 Level in new faculty. This happened as a result of a newly implemented law in the Engineering Faculty. The Law states that any Student that fails the 3 Core Engineering Courses will be withdrawn from the Faculty.

After the implementation of the Law, over 20 Final year Engineering students were affected and asked to leave the Faculty and start in their 200 Level.
