The wife of the Kwara State Governor, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Saraki, on Wednesday said that girls from the state were the oldest to have first segxwal experience in the country.
Quoting from a new report published by the International Journal of Health Geographics, Saraki noted that this success could be attributed majorly to the sustained campaign to ensure enrolment and completion of basic girl education in the state.
She explained that the Wellbeing Foundation, one of her pet projects, had also embarked on a rigorous campaign to ensure that the state was the first to domesticate the Child Rights Convention in 2006.
She noted that with the cooperation from the state House of Assembly, it was expected that the Maternal Health Services Bill would be signed into law on Thursday (today).
She said the foundation was in the forefront in the battle against child labour, child abuse and early marriage, stressing that the efforts were already generating a huge success.
