
A young woman wrote a powerful open letter to the man who tried to rape her, bravely insisting that she 'won't be defined' by the brutal attack. Sara Roebuck, a British woman living in Paris, had just moved to the city when the man locked her in a room and attacked her. He barricaded the door of a small room in a nightclub with a fire extinguisher before forcing himself on her.
The man attempted to rape the 24-year-old, who was left with hand-shaped bruises all over her body after forcing her against a sink in the small bathroom.
Later, she had to undergo a series of invasive examinations to prove her case against the man.
Sara, 24, from Halifax, bravely wrote the open letter, which she posted on Medium , to her attacker almost a year on, after he was finally convicted of the attempted rape. She opened up about her horrific experience and urged other rape victims not to feel alone, telling them:
