Sesame Street is looking for young Nigerian-Americans for roles in the new special of the long-running show which will be filmed in May 2017. According to the casting call put out by Carolyn Volpe; who is in charge of Child Talent for Sesame Street, the kids should be able to act, sing and represent their culture. First aired in 1969, Sesame Street is a longtime favourite of children and adults, and it bridges many cultural and educational gaps with a fun program. Big Bird leads a cast of characters teaching children numbers, colours and the alphabet.
Bert and Ernie, Oscar the Grouch and Grover are just a few of the other creatures involved in the show set on a city street full of valuable learning opportunities. A movie is being planned off the show to be released in 2018.
