Student activists from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have protested against the illegal imprisonment of their colleagues by a mobile court.
The protest, organized by the #SaveUNILAG Coalition, held on Thursday, April 6 in Oshodi, Lagos. 14 UNILAG students were jailed by a Special Offences Mobile Court on the instruction of university authorities, according to Sahara Reporters.
They were reportedly imprisoned for demanding an explanation for the rustication of students who participated in peaceful protests against poor hostel conditions. The students were jailed at the Kirikiri Prisons but have now been set free following the protest.
