Bloody Nigerians, somebody is bringing good money into our economy and u are complaining. It is only fair that our banks enjoy larges sums of deposits of foreign currency. Be it minute figure, converting 1.4 milo dollas into naira will be good for the Naira.

Afterall, our politicians take our money abroad and no-body complains about it. I doubt if the chinese will disturb a citizen that brings 1.4milo dollas into their country. I doubt if the Indians will disturb such a person.

These Corrupt Customs officers better leave these Nigerians alone. Cause we know if it is a senator coming in with 1billion dollars to corrupt the electoral process, he wont be held.

How dumb are we? This cant happen in Switzerland. Why is it happening in Nigeria? This is absurd. Completely absurd.

The phyuking Customs People even had the guts to make this public. Okay so these guys break our own laws and bring money into the country without declaration. Now as a law abiding custom officer, u keep this matter from the public eye cause you realize that ur citizens violated the American Laws. They don't act like an outfit that has the interest of your citizens at heart, They make shit like this public. All this customs officers had to do was make sure these guys weren't wanted by Interpol. Now u open that big mouth and say not only did these guys violate our laws they also violated American laws. Now even if we treat these guys leniently cause they didnt take money to Jamaica but brought it to Nigeria, the Americans will surely hang them when they get the chance. And they definitely cant go back to their country of Origin and hustle. What the phyuk is wrong with us? What the phyuk is wrong with us? Since when in the history of Mankind does a country arrest a citizen that hasn't commited any crime for bringing in money? What the phyuk is that shit? I have had it with this country. I have had it with this country. I am tired of this mediocrity permeating every thing Nigerian. My brain is cauterizing cause of this mediocrity. It is making me sick to my will.

Are the Customs the banks? What is their own? What the phyuk is their own.

And even if those guys are wanted bye Interpol that money is suppose to be in a Nigerian bank before these Customs Fools start shouting.

Nigeria, for how long will we not value our own? For how long will jealousy and envy characterize our day to day dealings and suspend our moral dust. For how long?

Sha, if I am those Guys, I will start looking for a telescopic sighted rifle.

Romeo may just have to die before romeo understands that some-one else was betrothed to Romeo before he came along.

What a stupid comment! Who told you you are not made to declare the amount of money you are having with you at the point of entrance in Switzerland? Have you ever been to Switzerland?

When some apparatus happens to be working, instead of us encouraging them to perform better, we only go about abusing them. These couples did not obey the law, therefore they paid for it. I am absolutely unconcerned about what happened to the money. I am very happy the custom people did not share it among themselves. Rather, they followed due processes. You should be thankful for that too. You can not encourage lawless behaviour and complain that your country is overwhelmed with lawlessness.

no mind those useless animy of progress, na when them wan make thing hard for their people na him them dey claime exspert, may be those couple no gree reliese something in time or those usless criminal demand for half of the money, if na europeans or american costom see their people dey come back to him country from africa, him carry this kind money, them go wellcome am well even direct to better bank wey him go put the money iiisss

Na lie. How many Yankees and Europeans have you seen with such an amount of cash? You fit try am. You just come to Germany with your German passport and loads of cash, and dont forget to fail to declare it to the customs. You will find out that it is also a crime here. And that money will also be impounded. You can not travel or enter the EU with a cash sum of more than EUR 10.000,00 without declaring it. If you do and you are caught, you can say good buy to the money and go to your lawyer.

Very sad storry!!! for a long time hustling OVERS it is a pitty, but those couples phyuk up, they would have bring inn those stuffs with a very solid contact. it is good to have and mantain contacts
sending the money via western union to themselves little by little or loading debit cards could have solved all their problems.

That money was illegal, thats why they did not declare it back in the states. Liars, serve them right. Why didnt they say the truth when asked? The money has been impounded now, good for our economy. Some thugz are gona get paid in $ollars now. See now, that politician wey go carry cocaine, if to say you dey customs you for get hard currency to campaign 2011 abi 911 which ever one you like most sha.

The reason Nigeria is not progressing is ironically summed up in your and many other similar comments in this thread. How can you condon crime openly and expect to have a good running govt? It is quite obvious where the problems of Nigeria lies. It is not only a question of leadership. The followerships are even worse. In a place where there is no law, there is no sin. If the law says declare your money if it is above certain amount, then do it. If the couples had declared the money and have been cheated by the customs, this could have been a different thing. Be thankful for every law enforced and rightly so in that country Nigeria. More of this jare. Slowly, we will learn that the fear of the law of the land is the beginning of good governance, a better Nigeria.

Anyway, the couple could seek redress at the law court to claim their money back.

Many Nigerians are just a bunch of criminals who like to pretend to be innocent, asking: Why do they victimize us Nigerians? Somebody committed a crime and was apprehended, instead of them encouraging the customs to even perform their job better; they are busy calling the customs names. And these are the guys that readily pay bribe to import firearms and completely knocked-down Tokunbo to destroy the economy of Nigeria. And they will be the first to whine and blame others that Nigeria is not working. How would Nigeria work, when you sabotage the country in every possible manner? You people should be ashame of yourself. With that, I mean all of you sympathizing with these couples.

The couples should be jailed. Period!!

thanks and well said my brother. the problem that we have as a country is that both our government and its security agencies are full of hypochrisy and allways dance to the tune of foreign countries, allways trying to be seen or praised by foreign countries to the detriment of its citizens. all the billions of dollars that our leaders dumped in the foreign countries who confiscate and queries them or their accomplice who happens to be a citizen of those countries?, as for the weapons and millitary wares they where right for confiscating them but for the the dollars  they are the most unpatriotic nigerians of the century for seizing them.

infact it is now clear to me that nigerian govt still have alot to learn, hw can somebody bring such an amount to the country and instead of wellcoming him  and discuss the next line of bussness they are arresting them and even had the guts to say it in public, i am sick and tiered of this so called nigeria, i now see why poverty has become the watchword of this so called giant of africa, shame i repeat shame on nigeria, and i also advice those that has the plans of returning to naija to invest to pls have a rethink cos i am sure of regrets bull shit.

some fool here are suporting the customs. no government  or its security agencies in all this 3rd world and evn some developed countries would made public such a catch when the money is coming into their country by their citizen even if he is a foreiner instead they would just interogate the person and let him go. for goodness sake that would have been a big boost to our economy if that couple was allowed to bring it in.

if the money was brought in to be used for violence in the election, it is fine to seize it.
