A South Carolina single mother who claimed her children drowned when their car careened into a river was charged with murder yesterday after authorities said she confessed to suffocating the two toddlers and then faking the accident.

Sheriff Larry Williams said 29-year-old Shaquan Duley told investigators she was distraught about money troubles and unemployment and that she killed her children by putting her hand over their mouths after a dispute with her own mother. He says Duley then strapped the children into her car and drove it into a river Monday morning. “This was a young lady that was in trouble, in trouble in more ways than she realized,” Williams said. “She was in trouble and she didn’t know where to turn.” Williams said the responsibilities of being a mother were simply too much for Duley, who didn’t show signs of remorse during an overnight interview with authorities. Two-year-old Devean C. Duley and 18-month-old Ja’van T. Duley were dead in their child seats by the time divers got to the car Monday near a rural boat landing on the North Edisto River in Orangeburg, some 35 miles south of Columbia, the state capital. The Highway Patrol was notified around 6:15 a.m. Monday that a woman needed help getting her children out of a car. Duley, who did not have a cell phone, had walked some distance down the country road by the boat landing and flagged down a passing motorist to call the Highway Patrol. Duley will be arraigned today.

OMG see EVIL. Where is the children father? Don't she know that HOPE is in Jesus Christ and not in man and money. I hope that parents who have small children see that it is essential to grow your children with Jesus Christ. When they reach adult hood and hard times come they will remember their teaching of Jesus Christ and turn to Him. It was what save my life from committing suicide God words that was bind on my heart has a child. Every day my eyes is open to the FACT that indeed Satan is the one who is ruling this world. God words doesn't lie and it is in our individual life that Jesus Christ rule through the Holy Spirit.
Nothing should lead us to murder another of God's creation. OMG she give birth to them and take their lives too! What a mother Satan has damage!

It's just unbelievable that a woman would do something like that to her own children. This a reflection of how morally depraved some people have become. i just wonder why some people bother to bring children they don't love into this world? She deserves the maximum punishment possible.

am not so sure she actually gave birth to those kids.cos if she does,she wouldnt dare do a thing like that forgetting the labour pains she went through in a jiffy.

Why will she have as much as children without a husband. She is just busy sleeping with men, give birth to innocent children and killing them. I think she deserves punishment coz she does not have a right to take away somebody's life even if it's he child. Secondly, she is irresponsible. I don't think she is planning to settle down. She should have desisted from phyuking men, if she didn't want the children.

This is so sad. South Carolina offer FREE birth control to any woman who can not afford it. All they have to do is ask. There are too many young girls who think having a baby is fun and games and will keep them with the child's father. More often than not, that father did not grow up with his father so he does not see anything wrong with abandoning his child. The mother is left taking care of that child on her own. She gets with a different man and has his child thinking that one will stick around. By the time she realizes that she needs to get her life together, she has 2,3,4 kids with 2,3,4 different fathers and understands that a decent man does not want a woman with so many kids by different men.
Those kids suffered not only when she was killing them, but long before that. I suspect she has been feeling trapped for a long time and may have been taking out her frustration on those kids. Those poor babies never had a chance with her as a mother. I cried for those kids. I pray that woman goes to jail for the rest of her life.

I think this is a lesson to our fellow Nigerians, who might find themselves in such situations...that killing their own blood is not the right movie to act....hope GOD forgives her and render infinite mercy unto her....but what has the Government have to say in this 9ja Govt. i mean??
