Today we celebrate WITS. According to Nelson Mandela ''Wits opened a new world to me,a world of ideas and political beliefs and debates,a world where people were passionate about politics''.These were the words of one of the greatest leaders Africa and the world produced in the last century, and I`m proud to be an African.

Yes ordinarily politics can be a tool of positive change, but in a world where evil rides the crest of society and sociopaths ascend pinnacles of power-we see a bastardization of WITS in politics.

A fragrant display of warped standards and political ideals has been the bane of our continent Africa, and I cry everyday as I pray that our leaders would look and embrace the good giant display of mandela's example in statesmanship.

I lament the plight of Mother Africa with this poem which I penned with an anguish heart.

TEARDROPS AND HEARTACHES
WOUNDS AND BLOOD
THE DANCE OF BULLET-HOLES
HEARTBREAK AND FORLORN DREAMS
OUR HOPE IS LOST
NOW THE WINDMILLS TURN
AND PROMISES OF CHANGE
COME CASCADING
THE DAWN IS MARRED
AND THE SUN RETIRES
THE RIVER OF HOPE DRIES UP
THE RAPE OF OUR LAND
HERALD DRUMBEATS OF PRODIGAL LEADERS.

OUR LAND,OUR OIL, OUR CURSE
ALAS THE POT IS INDEED BLACK
AND THE KETTLE UNTOUCHABLE[/i][/i][/b]
