Desperate times call form desperate measures, and this was clearly the case as the Kenyan government has banned sex for six months to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
The government didn’t stop at banning intercourse, as it also discouraged any close contact between partners for the period as a means of reducing the likelihood of spreading the flu-like virus.
This comes as Kenya confirms three more coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s COVID-19 patients to 19.
Following the new directive, the country’s citizens are advised to have at least two beds in one household.
Cording to an announcement by the East-African country’s Health Cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe, two of the three new cases were a couple that travelled from Madrid, Spain on March 4 through Dubai arriving in Kenya on March 5.
The third case is a Burundian national who travelled from Dubai, UAE, to Kenya on March 17 and was picked up by a surveillance team.
Mr kagwe said officials are “tracing persons who may have been in contact with the patients.”
After tests by the National Influenza Centre and the Kenya Medical Research Institute, the government is now appealing to Kenyans to report anyone who is not self-quarantining.
