The Joint Task Force (JTF)n Niger –Delta has been warned not to attack innocent persons and communities along the coastal areas of the region. Spokesman of Gen. John Togo-led Niger-Delta Liberation Force (NDLF), Captain Mark Anthony who gave the warning; said military choppers have been hovering over some riverine communities in search of the militants’ location.
“We’re using this medium to draw the attention of the international community to call Nigerian Government to order before we start counting more casualties on the side of the Federal troops.” The statement also urged the government to stop wasting human lives.
Specifically, the militants warned that it would henceforth not spare any aircraft crossing its borders adding that it would not fail to use its Rocket propellers Gun Unit (RPGU) to launch serious attack on any aircraft found in their boundary.
“We are drawing the world’s attention because if the JTF fails to heed to this warning and we attack them, it is most likely that a reprisal attack would be launched on innocent citizens,” remarked the militant leader and warned that the group will use anything in its disposal to defend its noble cause.
The militant group revealed that relocated to a new place christened ISRAEL BARRACKS which is far away into the Atlantic Ocean.
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta On Sunday, men of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta(M.E.N.D) attacked and destroyed the Obidi-Refinery trunk line. According to a statement by Jomo Gbomo
This pipeline was responsible for transporting crude oil to the refinery in Warri, Delta state in the Niger Delta.

All militants “supposedly captured” by the Nigerian military would soon be driving around in the streets of the Niger Delta in expensive luxury cars.

The Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence Sunday Ola Makinde on Tuesday declared that military action against the resurgence of militancy in the Niger Delta would fail.
Makinde speaking in an interview in Yenagoa where he had come to pay an apostolic visit also warned the Federal Government to speed up the rehabilitation of the ex-militants if it does not want them to be recruited as political thugs in the 2011 elections.
According to him only dialogue can resolve the problem as the use of force has failed in the past and would still fail.
He disclosed that in his discussions with Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state, he had warned that no politician in the Niger Delta should recruit the ex-militants as thugs.
He said: “Two wrongs do not make a right. Military invasion and intervention cannot solve the problem. It is better to discuss than engage in battle. They have used military invasion before, it failed. It is only dialogue, amnesty and discussions that can resolve the problem especially now that 2011 elections are coming.
“Honestly I am personally happy about the amnesty because when you see the development in the Niger Delta as a whole you would not be happy.
The environment has been destroyed, they need development and this was what the militants are fighting for. Thank God they have given them amnesty. I want them (ex-militants) to be fully rehabilitated especially to guide against 2011 when people would recruit political thugs. When I was talking to the Rivers state governor, I warned that we don’t want any politician from the Niger Delta to recruit the ex-militants as thugs. The government should fully rehabilitated this people and take the development of the area serious because they provide the resources which people go to Abuja to share every month”
On the 2011 elections, Makinde said the church would be fully involved to ensure that credible leaders are elected by the people.
He explained that the church is currently involved in electoral education on voters’ registration, adding that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has concluded plans to ensure it monitors the election.
Makinde who pointed out that there are no credible parties in Nigeria said the church through prayers would mobilize its members to vote for credible candidates.
His words: “The church is giving electoral education. And this includes that everybody must register for the elections. We are also telling them to vote for credible people. I am not saying credible party because there is no party in Nigeria that is credible because they all have intra- party problems. But credible people they bring, the people should vote for them and those who are not corrupt and selfish.
The church through CAN has concluded to have a monitoring team in place and above all we would be involve in prayers because prayers can change bad things to good things. The church would be on her knees to pray for credible leaders and I know he would do it. He has done it before and he would still do it.”
