Nigeria seizes more weapons at port, arrests suspects

Nigeria has made another illegal arms seizure at a port in Lagos, a navy spokesman said on Wednesday, weeks after capturing crates of weapons and explosives shipped from Iran.

The navy spokesman said it impounded eight camouflaged trucks and various pieces of military equipment hidden in another vehicle and had arrested some suspected importers of the illegal goods.

The navy were not able to provide details of the origin of the seized equipment.

“Items include pistols, hundreds of ammunition, bullet proof jackets, military boots and other related prohibited items,” the spokesman said in a statement. Read More: http://indepthafrica.com/?p=3140
