The Publicity Secretary of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said with the victory of the party in three states of the South-West, the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun and Oyo should “say goodbye.”
Mohammed stated this on Friday during a TV phone-in programme. He said the ACN had emerged as the dominant party in the South-West as the PDP only controlled Ogun and Oyo states out of the six states in the area.
The ACN spokesman was speaking on the victory of the party’s governorship candidate in Osun State, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, at the Court of Appeal, which nullified the election of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola of the PDP as the winner of the 2007 governorship election in the state.
“Out of six states in the South-West, our party (ACN) controls three states, the PDP has two, while the Labour Party controls one. We are the dominant party in the South-West.
“With this setting and the declaration of the Court of Appeal, which has pronounced Aregbesola as the winner of the Osun election, the PDP in Oyo and Ogun states should say goodbye,” he said.
Mohammed noted that it’s only the ACN governors that did not defect from the party to the PDP.
