The governor-elect of Osun State, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, on Friday announced a four-point programme as the thrust of his agenda for the state.
He said this shortly after he was declared the winner of the 2007 governorship election in the state by the Court of Appeal in Ibadan.
Aregbesola promised to eliminate poverty, hunger and unemployment, as well as promote functional education, restore healthy living and enhance communal peace and progress in Osun.
Besides paying tribute to all those who contributed to his victory at the appellate court, Aregbesola acknowledged the sacrifices made by the victims of the prolonged battle for the soul of Osun.
He blamed the events of the past 42 months in Osun State and the implied threat to the integrity of the nation’s judiciary on certain weaknesses in the Nigerian electoral system.
However, he called on the people to put the past behind them and embrace peace, while urging reconciliation among all feuding groups in the state.
