The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has said that the party would dislodge the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the state.

Amosun spoke in Abeokuta, the state capital shortly before the commencement of his electioneering campaign which took him to the Yewa area of the state. The 2007 gubernatorial candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) lamented what he described as shoddy performance and infrastructural decay caused by the ruling party in the state in the last seven a half years.

He expressed confidence that the ACN would win.
According to him, the people of the state were tired of the Otunba Gbenga Daniel-led administration, which performance he described as woeful and dismal. His words: “Ogun people have never had it so bad. Enough is enough. Ogun is in comatose state. The roads are bad, no water and everything has been destroyed by government. We cannot allow a Daniel in another form through his stooges back to power again.

“Even Daniel knows he did not win the 2007 elections; the elections were badly rigged and all we have to do is protect our votes. I can assure you we will protect our votes. We will not introduce violence but we will resist them because we want to change a bad government.”

The gubernatorial hopeful who described ACN as a progressive party, said he did not join the party earlier to contest the 2007 elections because the people in the party then were opposed to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He described Obasanjo as a father he would not want to offend.

“I can conveniently tell you that ACN is the progressive party. When I was in the PDP, because of my progressive tendencies, there were a lot of problems. I should have been in ACN when I left the PDP but the personalities in ACN then were at loggerheads with Obasanjo and I had a covenant not to go with anti-Obasanjo forces
