Nigeria’s Labour Party has appointed Doyin Okupe as the Vice Presidential candidate to the party’s flag bearer Peter Obi, but in a placeholder capacity to whip the Friday deadline set by INEC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday announced that there would be no extension of today’s (Friday) deadline for parties to submit the names of their presidential candidates and running mates.
Mr Okupe said on Friday evening that Mr Obi picked him because he found him worthy to serve.
“Yes, I am the vice-presidential candidate of our party because I was found worthy by the candidate and the party to serve,” he said.
