Some parents know the arrangement, others were simply tricked into giving up their kids. The government has to step in and enact a law that could says every child must stay in school till the age of 18. For a law like that to work, parents will need help with sending their children to school. Besides, what is wrong with having FREE secondary education in Nigeria?
I was horrified to read that the girl in the story may not know how to get back to her town. I thought she was in secondary school?
Every secondary school child should know the geography of her town, state and region. It is NOT the child's fault. She has not been taught. Her teachers and school should take the blame for her limited knowledge.
