Senate President, Ahmed Lawan Re-Elected In Yobe North

Ahmed Lawan, the President of the Senate, has won the recently concluded senatorial election in Yobe North, defeating his rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ilu Alhaji-Bello.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP were the major political parties vying for the position.

Professor Omolola Aduoju, the Returning Officer of the zone from the Federal University Gashua, Yobe State, announced the result at Umar Suleiman College of Education Gashua.
Lawan secured 91,318 votes out of the total valid votes cast, which amounted to 122,136.

The PDP candidate, Ilu Alhaji-Bello, obtained 22,849 votes. Lawan, who has spent about 22 years in both the Green and the Red chambers, will now represent Yobe North in the National Assembly.

The senatorial district is made up of Bade, Jakusko, Karasuwa, Nguru, Yusufari, and Machina local government areas.
