The Police Command in Lagos and the Nigerian Army 9th Brigade on Tuesday constituted a joint patrol team to check their personnel.

The body was formed when the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa visited the Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. I.E. Akpaumontia at the Ikeja Cantonment.

The task force would arrest any service person violating the traffic regulations, such as driving against traffic or BRT Lanes.

Officers and men of the police or army caught contravening the law would face disciplinary actions by the respective security agency.

The establishment of the special unit is expected to end cases of confrontation or resistance by those caught in the act.

CP Owohunwa further solicited the commander’s support in the fight against cultists threating peace and security.

In his response, General Akpaumontia gave the assurances of the brigade to assist the police in possible ways.
