Former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has reacted to the removal of the fuel subsidy regime by President Bola Tinubu.

It was earlier reported that the newly sworn-in president had, during his inaugural speech, said the subsidy is no longer sustainable in the country, stressing that it is gone.

Reacting, Sani, in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, lauded President Tinubu, stating that it is the right time to take tough decisions that are capable of revamping the nation’s economy.

He wrote:
Quote
“Within seven months last year, the CBN ‘defended’ the naira with $11.24 billion. Currently, petrol subsidy consumes N400 billion monthly.

“There is no better time to take tough economic decisions to revamp our economy than now. The culture of allocating foreign exchange to elites with multiple bureaus de change to sell on the black market must end.

“The opacity of the subsidy regime’s chains of fraud must also end.”

People who fail to plan, plan to fail. How can a leader who says he has vision announce remover of fuel subsidy during inauguration without even sitting down in office and look at what can be put in place to perfect the remover of subsidy without càusing more hardship to the greater masses. Buhari use his 8yrs to even do what? I think he claim he was the minister of petroleum but no refinery work not even one, all our refinery have become vegetables, the corruption in the oil sector both downstream and upstream is first class. The politicians in this country is piloting the nation to the poorest country in Africa. God gave a white men sense and they put it into production, God also gave black men sense but they ate it that's while Africans are always collecting and consuming. God us all

right on point. it pains me that in our dear country, our leaders does whatsoever they like and go scott-free. it's high time our leaders start receiving  jail term for their  misuse of public offices or else we go nowhere.succeeding government will always blame their predecessors for the county's woes only to toe the same path or at times even do worse than their predecessors
