The Kwara State University (KWASU) has responded to the recent raid conducted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on students of the institution.
In a statement issued by the Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee, KWASU confirmed that peace has been restored to Malete community following the unrest that occurred. The management urged all students and staff to remain calm and lawful amidst the situation.
The statement clarified that despite social media reports, no life was lost during the unrest, and no one was shot. KWASU management stated its commitment to liaising with the EFCC and NDLEA regarding the arbitrary sting operations on students.
Emphasizing its stance against the rough handling of bona fide students, KWASU urged its students to uphold peaceful and orderly conduct. The management assured students of providing a safe and enabling environment for learning, development, and graduation within the stipulated time frame.
Additionally, KWASU affirmed that the ongoing Harmattan semester examinations would continue as scheduled. The university called on all KWASU students to remain calm and carry out their lawful activities without fear.
