This is an astute policy initiative and action from a very able president. However, stringent safeguards would need to be implemented promptly by the Govt, with a special investigation and prosecution unit set up with the EFCC and the judiciary as we are in a nation loaded with fraudsters, chancers, saboteurs, bare-faced thieves and the rest of it to ensure that 1. Institutions of learning don't collude with non students to enrol and soak up loans. 2. Institutions of learning don't suddenly raise their fees to sky rocket levels in order to mop-up loans. 3. Approved loans are not diverted to other things such as trading in vehicle spare parts, parties, marriage, Japa tickets etc. 4. Loans are repaid to the coffers of tax payers as and when due.
