A teacher in Ogun State, Femi Onayemi, has been taken into custody by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in the Obada-Oko area. The arrest follows a shocking incident that has left the local community reeling.
According to a police source who spoke to PUNCH Metro, Onayemi was hired by the girl's parents in 2023 to provide private tutoring at their home. The arrangement, intended to enhance the girl's education, took a sinister turn on June 9, 2024, when Onayemi allegedly scaled the fence of the family’s home to access the girl’s room and commit the crime.
The girl's parents were reportedly horrified upon discovering the incident, prompting them to contact the police. Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the arrest and provided further details.
“The parents of the minor approached our division at Obada Oko on June 12, 2024, to report the incident. The suspect was employed in 2023 to help the survivor with her studies at home. However, on June 9, 2024, the suspect was caught committing the crime after he had jumped over the fence of the house. Our men swung into action immediately after the matter was reported,” Odutola said.
