In a distressing incident, Kayode Adesile, an automobile technician, was assaulted by hoodlums allegedly invited by his 15-year-old stepdaughter, Esther, at his wife’s residence in the Powerline area of Meiran, Lagos, on June 25, 2024. The assault, which took place while Adesile visited his pregnant wife, Oluwaseun Omolara Olusola, has sparked significant conversation and concern.
The Nation reports that the confrontation began when Adesile reprimanded Esther for disrespecting her mother. Upset by the admonishment, Esther allegedly conspired with local hoodlums to attack her stepfather. As Adesile arrived at his wife's house, the assailants ambushed him, dealing blows and recording the incident on their phones.
"I verbally reprimanded her for being rude to her mother, who is my wife," Adesile recounted. "I didn't realize she was so upset by my actions. They had plotted the assault, knowing I usually visit three times a week."
During the attack, Adesile's wife tried to intervene but was also assaulted. Following the altercation, the hoodlums falsely reported to the Meiran Police Station that Adesile had attacked them. When Adesile subsequently went to the station to file his complaint, he was detained. It was only after an investigation that the police discovered Adesile was the actual victim, leading to his release on June 27.
Adesile explained, "The leader of the hoodlums, Oluwakemi, also known as Honour, filmed the scene. I was severely beaten and left helpless."
Oluwaseun, Esther's mother, shared her distress over her daughter’s behavior, attributing it to negative influences from unscrupulous family members and neighbors. She revealed that Esther had a history of disrespect and disobedience, despite her struggles to provide for her and her siblings after parting ways with Esther’s abusive father.
"Esther has been influenced by those who want to take over my late mother's property," Oluwaseun said. "My husband has never molested her. She is being used without her understanding."
An audio recording obtained by The Nation revealed Esther accusing Adesile of fondling her Bosom s two months prior, an allegation both Adesile and Oluwaseun vehemently denied.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, for comments were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
The incident has highlighted the complex dynamics of family disputes and the dire consequences of unresolved tensions, raising concerns about the impact of external influences on familial relationships.
