Olanrewaju Agboola, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, was the latest victim of a robbery spree plaguing the Aseese community in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area. Armed robbers broke into his home and made off with his car and other valuables totaling N10 million.
The incident occurred early on Tuesday, June 25. Agboola recounted the ordeal to The PUNCH, revealing that the robbers stole a Toyota Highlander worth N8 million, five computer systems valued at N300,000 each, and his wife’s phone worth N200,000.
“It happened very early Tuesday morning. I wasn’t aware that anything had happened until I woke up later than usual, around 4:35 a.m. I went to the sitting room and noticed my television was missing. When I checked the door, it was locked, but the robbers had broken in through a window, tampering with the steel. They took the car, the computers, and the phones,” Agboola said.
The PUNCH reports that this is not the first incident of its kind in the community. A resident, speaking anonymously, confirmed that another pastor had previously fallen victim to similar theft.
Reacting to the incident, Solotan Owolabi, the Divisional Police Officer of Ibafo police station, confirmed the robbery and stated that investigations were underway to apprehend the culprits. He also advised car owners to equip their vehicles with trackers to help prevent such thefts in the future.
