In a significant crackdown on illicit drug activities, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended 60 suspects, comprising 25 males and 35 females, at a drug party in Abuja. The raid, conducted on Friday night, targeted an event named "Go Hard or Go Home. Pick Your Poison," organized by Stanley Ikechukwu at an apartment in Sun City estate, FCT.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed in a statement that among those arrested, six suspects—Victoria Adoga, Hamza Yari, Joanne Essein Joy, Socchima Valentine, Jago Imole, and Charles Indobuibisi—were found in possession of various quantities of ecstasy and cannabis.
Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, has directed immediate actions following the raid. He ordered the unconditional release of 20 suspects who tested negative for drugs. However, 33 others who tested positive for illicit substances will be granted bail and are required to report to the FCT Command of the Agency on Monday for mandatory treatment and counseling sessions.
The operation underscores NDLEA's commitment to curbing drug abuse and trafficking in Nigeria, particularly in urban centers like Abuja, where such activities can undermine public health and safety. Authorities continue to intensify efforts to dismantle drug networks and rehabilitate affected individuals, aiming to foster a drug-free society and uphold the rule of law.
