The Lagos State Task Force has dismissed two of its personnel, Fatai Yusuf, 42, and Hammed Garuba, 38, for stealing mobile phones during a raid at a hotel in Gowon Estate, notorious for harboring drug users and traffickers.

Task Force spokesperson Abdulraheem Gbadeyan confirmed the dismissals in a statement on Friday, revealing that the officers’ misconduct was captured on CCTV footage.

The operation, which aimed to apprehend drug offenders, was tainted when Yusuf and Garuba were found guilty of theft. “The two officers, serving as paramilitary personnel within the agency, underwent thorough investigation by the agency’s disciplinary committee. Following confirmation of their actions, they were summarily dismissed and will face prosecution,” Gbadeyan stated.

Task Force Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, condemned the officers’ actions, reiterating the agency’s commitment to integrity and accountability. “Any breach of ethical conduct will attract severe consequences,” he said, warning personnel against compromising the agency’s credibility.

### Crackdown on Drug-Related Crimes
In the same statement, Gbadeyan detailed the results of recent raids in Gowon Estate and surrounding areas.

- First Raid: Fifty-three individuals, including drug peddlers and users, were apprehended and have since been remanded at the Badagry Correctional Centre after court arraignment.
- Follow-Up Operation: Another 43 suspects were arrested, and identified drug hideouts and shanties were demolished to deter future criminal activities.

The task force emphasized its commitment to combating drug-related crimes and maintaining public safety, aligning with Lagos State’s THEMES Plus agenda.

“These actions reaffirm the agency’s dedication to discipline, equity, and justice, ensuring that unethical practices are decisively addressed,” Gbadeyan concluded.
