Security operatives have rescued 36 kidnap victims during a joint operation in the eastern part of Sokoto State.
The mission, conducted on Monday, targeted the Tidibali forest located along the Isa-Sabon Birni-Goronyo axis.
The victims, abducted from different communities in Sokoto and Zamfara states, had been held in the forest before their rescue.
A resident of Isa town, recounted that 36 individuals were brought to the town alongside two lifeless bodies. “I believe several bandits were killed during the operation,” he said.
Confirming the incident, Colonel Ahmed Usman, the Special Adviser on Security to Governor Ahmed Aliyu, acknowledged the success of the operation but stated that he had not yet received a detailed briefing.
