Detectives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested five suspects in connection with separate cases of theft and vandalism in the state, according to Police Public Relations Officer SP Wasiu Abiodun.
In the first incident, Adamu Yakubu and Abdulrahman Usman, both residents of Dama and Kushi villages, were apprehended on January 23, 2025, in Kuta, Shiroro Local Government Area. The duo was accused of conspiring to steal a Bajaj motorcycle during a wedding ceremony.
“The suspects reportedly conspired and stole the motorcycle, but it has since been recovered by police detectives. They will be prosecuted accordingly,” SP Abiodun confirmed.
In a separate operation, three men, identified as Shamsudeen Ibrahim, Faisal Aliyu, and Abba Shuaibu, were arrested in Minna’s Limawa area on January 24, 2025, for vandalizing public infrastructure.
The trio was caught in the early hours of the day using a digger and hammer to dismantle streetlight cables. “They were apprehended while actively vandalizing the streetlight cables,” SP Abiodun stated.
The suspects in both cases are in police custody and will face legal action as the authorities continue their efforts to combat crime in Niger State.
