Nigerian-Born Abayomi Whint Sworn in as Judge in New York’s Kings County Civil Court

Abayomi Whint, a Nigerian-born legal expert, has officially taken the oath of office as a **judge for the Kings County Civil Court in New York**, marking a significant milestone in her judicial career. 

Whint, who was among eight judges elected in Brooklyn  in November 2024, shared the news in an Instagram video with the caption, **“Welcome to the bench, Your Honor!”**

Her swearing-in ceremony took place at Brooklyn Law School, attended by family and friends who dressed in white and green to celebrate her achievement. During the event, she pledged to uphold the responsibilities of her office to the best of my ability, so help me God 

With over **20 years of experience** in public service, Whint has built a career as a itigator, certified mediator, and arbitrator specializing in conflict resolution. She is also recognized for her contributions to organizational leadership, inclusivity, and restorative justice. 

In recognition of her achievement, Nigeria’s Consul General, Ambassador Abubakar Jidda, and his wife hosted a banquet in her honor at the Nigerian Embassy in New York.

Whint’s appointment is being celebrated as an inspiration to the Nigerian diaspora and a testament to the growing influence of Nigerians in the global legal community.
