A 60-year-old woman, Talatu Ali, has been abducted from the Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Dawanau, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, in what appears to be a well-planned attack by suspected kidnappers.
Sources revealed that Mrs. Ali had arrived at the hospital on February 19, 2025, accompanied by her son, Nasiru Aliyu, and cousin, Aliyu Garba, both from Yar Gaya Village in Dawakin Kudu LGA. While waiting in line for medical consultation, her relatives suddenly noticed she had vanished without a trace.
A frantic search across the hospital premises yielded no results, prompting the family to report the incident to the Dawanau Divisional Police Headquarters.
Two days later, on February 21, at around 7:00 a.m., Aliyu received a phone call from an unknown number. The caller confirmed that Mrs. Ali was in their custody, signaling a possible ransom demand.
Security analysts suggest that the abductors may have deliberately chosen the hospital due to its open access, making it an easy target for such criminal activities.
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the abduction and assured that investigations are underway to track down the perpetrators and ensure the safe return of the victim.
