Mikel started the season brightly before a dip in form saw him dropped by Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti in January.
He has returned to the starting line-up in recent weeks and his presence has been a key factor in the reigning champions closing the gap on leaders Manchester United.
And with a trip to Old Trafford up on Sunday, the holding midfielder is determined to prove his worth once again.
Mikel, 24, said, "I had a good run from the start of the season until about January and then I wasn't playing so much.
"Now I have started playing again and I just want to keep playing as much as I can
