1.5 million Candidates chasing half a million places in the higher institutions of learning in Nigeria?

Let’s assume that of the  about 500.000 that will be admitted just about 250.000 ended up graduating due to many factors, where are the  jobs being created to accommodate a quarter of a million graduates in four or five years’ time?

This being a continuous process, it means energy should be focused on building a strong economy that can withstand and accommodate the millions of graduates coming out of universities instead of stealing the national cake, and brutalising the common man.

What about the future? Any hope?

I accept the fact that the fundation is bad for most Nigerian students but i am sorry to say those Jamb officials or whateva thay call themselves should not cancel any result. The reason is not far fetched,re they not the ones selling the questions out? They should do something inward and stop blamming students jare,,they are always happy to announce the failures of students....See malpractise is evrywhere in the world. These pupils re buying jamp forms with hard earned money not stone, mtshew.

Cancellation has to continue as long as that device is still functioning. It will not do us best to encourage the pressure of corruption to take 100% control on the string of (quality) education, though it has crept into every nooks and crannies of the society....that will be very bad, a prove of no change in sight. It can be horrible if we take every ground to be green without discrimination.
Also ,it will do us much good to discourage the effort to use hard earned money to destroy the root of value and good assessment meant for quality production and grading though it has been highly abused and destroyed. It's a piety that the mechanism has depreciated so much that deceived observer can condemn the remaining parts that has no future.

When the entire educational system is bad what you expect? Education is left in the hands of the rich and not longer those who are qualified. So, it's not all about passing the JAMB, it's getting the ADMISSION that matters. I know of a guy who scored 295 in JAMB and yet was not given admission simply because he doesn't have the mean to bribe his way to the school.

We should stop crying making nuisance for those who couldn't pass the exam, let us say the truth and tell them to give ADMISSION to the successful candidates, that will equally encourage and compel the candidates to do better next time. LEST CALL A SPADE A SPADE. GIVE ADMISSION TO THE SUCCESSFUL ONES, that is the major thing.

Your argument is much scarce in the mind of most Nigerians and that is where the major problem come from. Discrimination and humiliation of the poor by the rich when it is so clear that the rich does not make sense of thorough study. Nigeria is in dire need of really educated and developed mentality that will have something to deliver other than marking time in their father's former office and reciting old comment of their pady pady.. Just a piety.

Wow, this is a bad look. There has to be something that these JAMB people are not doing right. If not that, then it falls on the teachers; maybe they're not preparing the students properly for the exam. You'll see half-baled students out of high school about to enter the college atmosphere which they are not ready for. Whenever scores are like this, the public usually looks at the teachers...they better do something about this and fast.

On Friday, June 24th, 2011, which is less than a week after JAMB conducted the 2011 UTME on June 18th, it has released the result of the exam which 1.5 million candidates wrote. According to the Registrar of JAMB who announced the result, over 800,000 candidates scored below 200 marks while the result of 15,160 candidates were cancelled due to examination malpractice. Is this not another poor result? What do you think?

The lasted cause of mass failure Nigeria is one of the major embarrassing problem of a country without value for education. No encouragement no incentive nothing is stable nor certain. Student are discouraged and dis-spirited from study. Future is not bright.
Education has a very less value in Nigeria in general. Many teachers are no longer convinced to give their best to teaching other than fulfill all righteousness cos they are not sure of their payment and retirement benefit alive. This problem started long ago. As well, student no longer see reason to face their studies especially from when it became clear that good office is no longer for best student in a specific profession but for pals which developed now to family members and such like.
Nigeria is in big danger if care is not taking. It has started affecting the society in general cos the likes of this set that fail woefully are already in sensitive position that is not even a political office, and any irrational decision taken their always have adverse effect on the nation. This is the more reason why failed leaders find it difficult to find out, b/live, and encourage home made product instead of importation. The solution is a simple one but who will bail the cat?
My brother u have said it all very simple but who is going to bail the cat. The future is distratrous for the 9ja youth.

nigerian education system is in shambles, even if they all passed jamb, they will still go through the hurdle of post-ume. jamb should be scrapped anyway if the government will agree cos it appears to be another channel for exploiting students
