A 29-year-old man accused of jumping a fence and trespassing into the Presidential Villa in Abuja was on Wednesday freed by an Abuja chief magistrate, after he told the court that his father sent him to greet President Goodluck Jonathan.
Trakiriowe Oyinmikbi, who hails from Patani Local Government Area, Delta State, pleaded guilty to charges of criminal trespass but told the court that his father, who was a one time president of the country in 1982, sent him on the mission to the villa.

Chief Magistrate Azubuike Okeagu, after listening to the accused person’s explanations, said his behavior during court proceedings showed that he is mentally deranged and consequently discharged him.

Prosecutor Philips Akogwu had earlier told the court that on June 26, one Sergeant Hamza Ahmed reported at Asokoro Police Station that the accused was arrested when he criminally trespassed into the presidential villa by jumping over a fence close to Gate 4.

He said that the accused could not give satisfactory accounts of his mission to the villa when interrogated and committed an offence contrary to Section 348 of the Penal Code.
