The Stockport County manager, who wore the jerseys of both clubs during his playing career, is impressed with City's potential, but feels that Bayern also have the quality to compete.
"Manchester City are very strong. But the same goes for Bayern. It would not surprise me if in eight months, Bayern Munich and Manchester City were to face off again," Hamann was quoted as saying by 11Freunde.
Hamann then went on to discuss City's transfer policy and stressed that he hopes that Uefa will go ahead with financial fair play as planned.

"Because of the takeover by the Abu Dhabi Sheikh back in 2008, Manchester City now have unlimited financial resources available," he added.
"This will augment the prices, everything will be inflated. I think it's good that Uefa wants progress with the financial fair play guidelines so as to stop certain developments.
"Let's see how the rules are eventually implemented. Should the system work, the German clubs will probably benefit from it."
