A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Raphael Aliyu Olorunpomi, who was kidnapped in Kabba some days ago, has been found dead in a bush at Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Kogi State police command, Mr Ile Simon.
According to the police, sources revealed that the victim might have been killed for defiling the tradition of the land by opening for business during the Oro festival in Kabba.
The statement added that it was learnt that the victim’s kidnappers didn’t have the intention of killing him, but eventually shot him on the head because he identified one of his kidnappers.
His body was discovered on Thursday morning on Okehi/Kabba road.
It will be recalled that on June 16, the victim was allegedly abducted and carried away in his Toyota Camry car to unknown destination.
Meanwhile, no fewer than five suspects have been arrested by the Kogi State police command in connection with the killing.
Nigerian Tribune investigation revealed that the arrest of one of the suspects led to the arrest of the others.
