A Nigerian lady has stirred fresh controversy online after alleging a sudden and unexplained alteration in her brother’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score, deepening public concern over the integrity of the 2024 results released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The claim, shared on her X (formerly Twitter) handle, described how the candidate’s result appeared to change dramatically overnight. According to her, a score of *157 was displayed when she first checked on behalf of her brother, only for their mother to reportedly discover a new score of 257 the following morning.
In her post, the visibly agitated user slammed the examination body, describing the situation as baffling and unacceptable. “JAMB is stupid sha. I checked my brothe’s result yesterday and it was 157, which is insane. My mom checked this morning, and his score is 257,” she wrote.
The incident is the latest in a wave of complaints from candidates and guardians across the country, many of whom claim their UTME scores do not align with their expectations or mock test performances.
The alleged discrepancy has fueled renewed calls for transparency, with some Nigerians demanding that JAMB release the marking scheme and offer clear explanations regarding the grading process.
As of press time, JAMB has yet to issue an official statement on the alleged score changes, although public scrutiny over the board’s handling of this year’s examination continues to mount.
