In a significant blow to criminal operations in Anambra State, police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad and Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Awkuzu have arrested four suspected members of a notorious kidnapping gang during a late-night raid on their hideout in Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The operation, which took place at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday, followed actionable intelligence that led officers straight to the syndicate’s base. According to a statement issued on Saturday by the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the raid yielded not only arrests but also the recovery of several items linked to criminal activity.
Among the recovered items were three vehicles—a black Lexus GS 350 (ENU 561 LY), an ash Toyota Camry (UWN 614 HK), and a navy blue Toyota Corolla (UMZ 135 AD)—along with an HP laptop, a car spraying machine, motor wires, and quantities of methamphetamine, locally referred to as Mkpurummiri.
The suspects, identified as Chigozie Udolisa (a.k.a. T. Dollars), Anaolu Joseph (a.k.a. Blue), Chukwuka Udolisa (a.k.a. Udokamiri), and a female accomplice, Chinaza Udemezue, are aged between 19 and 28. Preliminary investigations reveal they are active members of a syndicate involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, and vehicle theft.
In a startling revelation during interrogation, Chinaza confessed that her boyfriend, believed to be armed, fled the scene with their weapons as the police closed in. His identity remains undisclosed, but efforts are underway to apprehend him.
DSP Ikenga confirmed that all suspects are cooperating with ongoing investigations and will be charged to court upon conclusion of inquiries.
The police command praised the intelligence network that made the operation possible and reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating violent crime across the state.
