A serving officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been arrested by the FCT Police Command for his involvement in a botched armed robbery that left a Bolt driver injured in the early hours of Friday.
The suspect, identified as Felix Emmanuel, an Inspector with the NDLEA’s FCT Command, allegedly attempted to hijack a Toyota Corolla from Bolt driver, Mr. Israel Emeka, at City View Estate in Galadimawa around 12:10 a.m. Police sources revealed that a distress call was made, reporting an ongoing robbery attempt, prompting a swift response from the authorities.
Emmanuel, armed with a locally-made pistol, reportedly confronted the driver and tried to forcefully take control of the vehicle while it was still in motion. During the struggle, the suspect shot Mr. Emeka, who sustained gunshot wounds. The driver was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Jabi, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Officers from the Galadimawa Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), quickly arrived at the scene and apprehended Emmanuel. A search of the suspect's possession revealed a locally fabricated pistol and two live cartridges.
The police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to face charges related to attempted armed robbery and assault. Authorities have assured the public that further updates on the case will be provided as the investigation progresses.
