A notorious criminal gang believed to be behind a series of kidnappings, armed robberies, and car thefts has been dismantled by the Anambra State Police Command, with four suspects — including a female member — arrested during a high-stakes operation in Uke, Idemili South Local Government Area.
The dramatic bust took place on the evening of May 9, 2025, around 7:30 pm, when operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Awkuzu stormed a suspected hideout following actionable intelligence. The operation was confirmed in a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
Those apprehended include 19-year-old Chinaza Udemezue, the only female among the suspects, and three male accomplices: Chigozie Udolisa, also known as T. Dollars; Anaolu Joseph, alias Blue; and Chukwuka Udolisa, alias Udokamiri — all between the ages of 19 and 28.
The police recovered a cache of items from the scene, including three suspected stolen vehicles — a black Lexus GS 350 (ENU 561 LY), an ash Toyota Camry (UWN 614 HK), and a navy blue Toyota Corolla (UMZ 135 AD). Also recovered were an HP laptop, a car spraying machine, various motor wires, and substances suspected to be methamphetamine, commonly called Mkpurummiri.
In their confessions, the suspects admitted to operating as a syndicate involved in kidnapping and armed robbery. Chinaza revealed that her boyfriend, who is allegedly the gang's arms handler, escaped with their weapons upon spotting the approaching police officers.
The suspects are currently being interrogated, with authorities working to uncover the full extent of their network and apprehend remaining members still at large.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to public safety, SP Ikenga stated, “The Anambra State Police will not relent in flushing out criminal elements from our communities. We urge the public to remain vigilant and support our efforts by providing credible information.”
The raid marks another milestone in the ongoing crackdown on violent crime across the state.
