One of the prime beneficiaries of Col. Sambo Dasuki’s appointment as the new National Security Adviser (NSA) is former military ruler, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), it has been revealed.

IBB, as Babangida is fondly called, is Sambo’s former boss and one of the northern leaders begrudging President Goodluck Jonathan for allegedly usurping the North’s chance by exploiting incumbency factor to become president instead of allowing the region to complete the eight years as would have been the case if late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua did not die in office.

To further incur IBB’s wrath, Jonathan completely left him out of the power circle, a development which IBB considered an affront.

Transport & Business Express leant that a prominent IBB boy once voiced out his master’s frustrations in a private conversation that eventually reached Aso Rock. The retired army colonel who hails from the far North was quoted as saying: “This is the first time that IBB does not have a representative in the government – not even a minister or any other. Let us see how Jonathan can succeed.”

True to his boast, Jonathan has faced a mighty distraction in the form of the killer Boko Haram group that has made large portions of the North virtually ungovernable.

Failure to solve the problem by Gen. Owoeye Azazi (rtd) saw the president’s kinsman being unceremoniously removed Friday night and replaced with Sambo, a one-time Aide de Camp (ADC) to IBB and son of Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki, who was deposed as Sultan of Sokoto by late military dictator, General Sani Abacha.
