ILORIN – A female kidnapper, Monday, escaped death by the whiskers as she was saved from an irate mob, which tried to lynch her at Offa, Kwara State. The woman (names withheld) was alleged to have kidnapped a school girl when the mob caught up with her.
She was rescued by some persons, who took her to the palace of the traditional ruler of Offa, Olofa, Oba Mufutau, from where she was handed over to police at the Area Command in Omu-Aran for further investigation.
It was learnt that the middle-aged woman was allegedly a member of a kidnap syndicate that specialised in abducting school children in the town.
The suspect was said to have confessed to the people that she hails from Ede but was based in Ilesa, Osun State, with other members of the syndicate.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olufemi Fabode, said he was yet to be briefed on the development.
