Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has said that the leadership style of the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, in his first 100 days in office, has set the tone for reconciliation in the party.

In a statement issued by his media office in Abuja, the former Vice President noted that Alhaji Tukur has cut the image of a unifier, peacemaker and bridge-builder at a critical point when the party requires his strong leadership.

According to Atiku, the PDP Chairman has kept faith with the reconciliation policy, aimed at rebuilding the party, which was once torn apart by division and acrimony.

“The passion and sincerity with which Alhaji Bamanga Tukur is trying to introduce a system in the way the party is run is a reflection of his determination to put his wealth of experience at the disposal of the party,” Atiku said.

The former Vice President commended the revolutionary style of modeling the party after democratic parties like the ANC in South Africa where loyalty to the party subsumes allegiance to individuals and groups.

He said that these steps by Alhaji Tukur were promising signs that the Chairman was committed to the task of rebuilding the party, restoring discipline and bringing a system in which the party was run.
