ABEOKUTA—No fewer than 24 people were on danger list in hospitals because of injuries they sustained in two accidents that occurred, yesterday, in Sango, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and Mowe on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, in Ogun State.

The first accident occurred about 10 a.m. in Sango in the Ado-Odo/ Ota Local Government Area involving no fewer than 20 people who were reportedly crushed by a truck owned by Dangote Cement Factory.

An eyewitness told Vanguard that no fewer than 20 people were on danger list following the accident that involved six vehicles, one Keke Marwa and a motorcycle.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said, the truck crushed the vehicles thereby injuring the occupants seriously.

The Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Ayobami Omiyale, who confirmed the accident, said only five people were involved.

He said:“Five people were involved, three of them were taken to Ifo General Hospital while two were referred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. Nobody died.

While explaining the cause of the accident, Omiyale said; “there was a head-on collision between the truck and a Tipper lorry which later involved other vehicles,” stressing that nobody died but five sustained serious injuries.

Vanguard gathered that, another accident occurred at Mowe on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway about 12p.m, which almost claimed 19 lives.

The accident, according to Omiyale, “involved a black Toyota Hilux with number-plate AH 350GKW and white Mazda bus number-plate XZ377GGE as a result of head-on collision.

He said the 19 victims who included two women were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were receiving treatment.
